ADMAP2 Magnetic anomaly map of the Antarctic - links to files

Abstract:
ADMAP2 is the second generation Antarctic magnetic compilation for the region south of 60 deg S. This dataset includes 3.5 million line-km of aeromagnetic and marine magnetic data from multiple nations, which is more than double that in the original ADMAP compilation. For the new compilation, the magnetic data sets were corrected for the International Geomagnetic Reference Field, diurnal effects, and high-frequency errors and levelled, gridded, and stitched together. The new dataset provides an unprecedented view of the sub-surface geological structure of Antarctica. It represents a major milestone of the international Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Antarctic Digital Magnetic Anomaly (ADMAP) Project.

Instrumentation
| Data Collection: | Magnetic instrumentation is variable across surveys, see referenced paper for further information and details of the component surveys. The final data processing and compilation was carried out using the Geosoft (registered trademark) geophysical data processing package. Resolution: The final ADMAP2 grid has a raster resolution of 1.5 km cell size. Other grids have higher resolution if the underlying data warrants. Line data is distributed at the resolution it was provided. |

Storage
| Data Storage: | Both line data and gridded data products are available. The line data is provided as 33 regional Geosoft databases, each reflecting a local compilation of surveys. The gridded data includes grids of the local compilations, together with broader regional products and the final ADMAP2 raster. |
